Little Learners
The Little Learners is a home from home environment for children aged 3 months - 2.5 years, and comprises of a neutrally decorated playroom, with low level windows which keep the room bright and airy.
The room is equipped with preloved authentic resources and loose parts. A mix of responsive and intentional planned areas consider the specific needs of children, with a balance of child-initiated, adult initiated and adult-directed experiences supporting children’s interests, curiosity and independence. The layout of the room allows for exploration, cosy areas and messy time and is rich with literacy, numeracy and mathematical experiences.
There is a separate sleep/rest area, where we have the luxury of having the freedom to allow children to sleep when they are tired, or have quiet, restful time if necessary.
Cosy Area
Our cosy corner is a calm nurturing space designed with soft lighting, comfortable cushions and accessible books. It encourages early language shared reading and quiet moments together. This inviting area supports emotional security and helps foster a lifelong love of stories.
Imaginative Play
Imaginative play in children under three helps develop language, creativity, and social skills. Toddlers begin to pretend, such as feeding dolls or using toy phones. In nursery settings, simple resources and gentle adult support encourage children to explore and express their ideas through play.
Outdoor Play
The playroom has direct access to a private fully enclosed garden which gives children the choice on whether to play indoors or outdoors in all weathers every day. Play areas within the garden are carefully set up with a mud kitchen, soil play, water play with many larger loose parts such as ladders, pallets, tyres, crates and wheels allowing children to be pilots in their own play.
